Education Behavior Specialist

Are you passionate about making a positive impact on young children's lives? We're seeking a dedicated Education Behavior Specialist to join our team at Current USA's Early Childhood Services division.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide specialized instruction to students with disabilities, ensuring they receive the support they need to thrive.
  • Collaborate with the CSE or CPSE to ensure IEP recommendations are implemented and each service provider is aware of their responsibilities.
  • Develop and implement Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) to support students with challenging behaviors.
  • Train staff on DDI's policy on challenging behaviors and provide ongoing support to ensure a safe and inclusive learning environment.
  • Provide individual or group parent education and clinical case assessment and review to support families and students.
Requirements:
  • Master's degree in Special Education, Psychology, or a related field.
  • NYS certification in Special Education or a related area.
  • Expertise in instruction, curriculum, and positive behavior supports for individuals with autism and/or developmental disabilities.
  • Skills in Applied Behavior Analysis and/or coursework towards the Advanced Certificate in Applied Behavior Analysis.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
Essential Functions:
  • Ability to modify the environment to ensure the safety of children.
  • Ability to move/transport a child weighing up to 30 pounds to a height of 3 feet to place the child on a changing table.
  • Ability to move quickly after a child up to 200 feet to prevent elopement.
  • Ability to position oneself or maneuver the classroom to facilitate student instruction in the classroom and playground environment.
