About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Policy Director to join our team at George Washington University's Milken Institute School of Public Health. As a key member of our staff, you will provide strategic policy guidance and government affairs coordination that advances our mission and goals with federal, state, and local government levels.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide policy research and development support to advance our mission and goals
  • Leverage your expertise in public policy and research to develop policy briefs, reports, and other materials
  • Collaborate with our Policy Lab team to identify and analyze policy opportunities and challenges
  • Develop and maintain relationships with Congressional staffers, lawmakers, and community stakeholders
  • Oversee the development of presentation materials, talking points, and collateral documents for stakeholder meetings
  • Pursue and leverage funding opportunities to support our work

Requirements:

  • Masters degree in Public Health or related field, plus 5 years of experience, or PhD in Public Health or related field, plus 2 years of experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge of public policy and research procedures, including federal, state, and local legislative processes
  • Ability to prepare a variety of written communications, including reports, testimony, factsheets, and briefs
  • Self-motivated and able to multi-task, set priorities, work independently, and manage multiple deadlines
  • Proficient understanding of local, state, and federal legislative and executive process, including budget and appropriations processes
