Job Summary

Amerind is seeking a highly skilled Underwriter II to join our team. As an Underwriter II, you will be responsible for evaluating insurance applications, determining risk acceptability, and negotiating policy terms and conditions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluate insurance applications and conduct research to determine risk acceptability
  • Negotiate policy terms and conditions with customers
  • Underwrite various types of insurance policies for individuals and businesses
  • Calculate premiums and establish payment methods
  • Make final determinations on risk acceptability within company guidelines
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration or related field
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of underwriting experience
  • Insurance Professional Designations (CIC, AU and/or AINS) preferred
  • Valid driver's license
  • No felony, theft, or fraud convictions
Preferred Qualifications
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task and assist in multiple duties or projects
  • Advanced presentation skills
  • Knowledge of underwriting practices and techniques
Working Conditions

This role requires 25% travel and may involve working in a typical business office setting with moderate noise levels. The ideal candidate will be able to sit for work at a computer for more than 6 hours per day and stand and walk for more than 4 hours per day when on client site.
