Job Summary:

The Music Educator/Therapist will develop and implement individual and group music education programs, providing weekly music experiences to students with emphasis on music appreciation and enjoyment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in music education and experience working with students with developmental disabilities.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement individual and group music education programs
  • Provide weekly music experiences to students with emphasis on music appreciation and enjoyment
  • Communicate with parents regarding the music program and progress of respective children
  • Coordinate music programs as requested by the Principal
  • Maintain accurate and complete records as required by law and agency policies
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Music and Permanent or Initial New York State Certification in Music
  • OR Master's degree and Permanent or Professional/Initial New York State Certification
  • Demonstrated skill in formulating and documenting behavioral objectives for students with developmental disabilities
  • Ability to train and raise the consciousness of professional staff in utilizing music as a learning tool
