Position Overview:

The Solar Sales Consultant will play a crucial role in achieving weekly and monthly sales targets established by management. This position will report directly to the Senior Manager of Residential Solar and collaborate closely with other members of the Solar and Product Innovation teams. Effectively advising customers on solar solutions necessitates a thorough understanding of the technical aspects of solar energy, the ability to build rapport with potential clients, and a commitment to promoting renewable energy adoption.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Represent the Green Mountain & Reliant brands with professionalism, articulating our legacy in renewable energy and extensive experience in solar development and innovation in Texas, alongside our unwavering dedication to quality and customer satisfaction.
  • Manage a substantial volume of leads and convert them into sales.
  • Possess knowledge of incentives, rebates, and standards related to residential rooftop solar.
  • Demonstrate a willingness to gain comprehensive knowledge of available products and financing options in the marketplace.
  • Utilize consultative sales techniques to distinguish our sales and partnership model from competitors.
  • Adhere to pricing standards set by NRG and installation partners.
  • Maintain ethical and high-integrity sales practices.
  • Comply with quality standards and participate in sales quality audits as necessary.
  • Prepare solar designs, proposals, and acquisition options using industry-standard proposal software.
  • Be available to review proposals either remotely or in person, based on customer preferences and geographic considerations.
  • Qualify and manage incoming solar leads.
  • Identify and recommend suitable solar energy solutions based on customer information.
  • Achieve and uphold periodic sales and customer experience objectives.
  • Attend scheduled meetings with prospects to address general inquiries.
  • Regularly update databases and sales portals.
  • Provide general customer support.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Work Environment:

  • This is a hybrid position, requiring the individual to report to the NRG office three days a week while working remotely for the remaining two days.
  • Occasional travel within the Texas region may be necessary.
  • Must be available during standard business hours, with occasional irregular hours.
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods is required.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Prior experience in selling energy or electricity-related solutions.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications (especially Excel), Salesforce, and CRM tools.
  • Ability to explain and discuss technical information in layman's terms.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in solar solutions.
  • A minimum of one year in a retail sales, quota-driven role with a proven track record of exceeding goals.
  • Bachelor's degree.

Additional Skills and Abilities:

  • Experience with Salesforce or similar CRM systems.
  • Experience working remotely.
  • Familiarity with industry-leading solar system design and proposal software (e.g., Aurora, Enerflo).
  • Experience with third-party financing tools (e.g., Everbright, Good Leap, Mosaic, Sunnova).
  • Ability to manage escalations related to customer concerns.
  • Strong multitasking abilities and capability to work in a matrix organization with competing priorities.
  • Effective collaboration skills within NRG and with channel partners.
  • Strong interpersonal, relationship-building, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Excellent mathematical and analytical skills.
  • Self-motivated and capable of working independently while managing multiple tasks.
  • A genuine desire to assist customers.

Physical Requirements:
