Substation Physical Engineer Position

About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Substation Physical Engineer to join our team at Leidos. As a key member of our design team, you will work on projects for electric utilities at various voltage levels, from 12kV to 500kV. This is an exciting field in the power systems industry, offering opportunities to work with renewable energy and contribute to the development of digital logic design, AC and DC circuits.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design substation electrical projects using knowledge of digital logic design, AC and DC circuits.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and clients to meet project needs.
  • Perform quality control checks on substation physical design projects.
  • Read and design substation physical drawings, including one-line drawings, three-line drawings, plan-section drawings, foundation, and grounding drawings.
  • Create and check bills of materials for substation physical projects.
  • Attend site visits at customer locations.
  • Ensure compliance with quality control and safe work practices, as well as project scope, schedule, and budget.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related field.
  • Two or more years of experience in substation physical design, or four or more years of experience for senior-level positions.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to interact with internal teams and clients.
  • Ability to meet deadlines under pressure situations.
  • Collaborative and leadership skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Strong analytical skills and problem-solving abilities.
  • High level of computer competency.
  • Willingness to travel to project and/or client sites.
