Job Title: Technical Program Manager, Machine Learning

Waymo is a leading autonomous driving technology company with a mission to create the most trusted driver. Our team is responsible for executing the company's roadmap by providing strategic planning, clarity, and proactive risk management. We act with thoughtful urgency, driving conversations, discussions, and outcomes to deliver real-world deployments of the Waymo Driver across platforms and geographies.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with cross-functional groups to align execution with product goals
  • Partner with technical leads, product managers, and program managers to lead execution on broad efforts
  • Lead proactive risk management efforts and contingency plans across the program landscape to deliver on the program
  • Set up and sustain mechanisms that promote organizational efficiencies, and improve speed of decision-making and execution
  • Communicate across all levels of the organization to ensure all partners are aware of program decisions, status, and changes
Requirements:
  • 8+ years of relevant experience driving outcomes for large projects
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline, and good understanding of Machine Learning model life cycle or equivalent years of experience
  • The ability to engage with engineering leads and contribute to technical discussions by understanding the tradeoffs and impacts of various technical decisions to the program scope, risks, and timeline
  • Fluent in structuring project plans, identifying technical dependencies, and driving execution across teams, all the while implementing process improvements
  • A desire to work across the organization with everyone, where all agree what we accomplish is more important than who gets the credit
  • Hands-on experience identifying technical problems, and driving complete cycle of problem discovery to solution and execution
  • Represent your project from business, product, or technical perspectives at varying levels
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in a technical field, ideally related to AI/ML
  • You contributed to technical decision-making by analyzing trade-offs, asking the right questions, and offering alternate solutions

Waymo employees are eligible to participate in the company's discretionary annual bonus program, equity incentive plan, and generous Company benefits program, subject to eligibility requirements. The expected base salary range for this full-time position across US locations is $183,000 - $232,000 USD.
