About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior SCADA Systems Engineer to join our team at Jobot. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for the design, development, and maintenance of our Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system.

Key Responsibilities
  • SCADA System Management: Manage SCADA system equipment, components, and assets to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
  • Troubleshooting and Maintenance: Lead in troubleshooting SCADA network communication problems and perform routine maintenance tasks to prevent system downtime.
  • Network Performance Optimization: Maintain, analyze, and improve network system performance to ensure efficient data transmission and processing.
  • Security and Compliance: Improve methodologies to ensure proper network system operation and security, adhering to industry standards and regulations.
  • System Integration: Set up Ethernet networks, computers, and other HMI equipment for communication with field equipment using established industrial protocols.
  • Programming and Testing: Program, install, and test switches, routers, modems, and other network equipment to ensure seamless system operation.
  • System Updates and Patches: Deploy system patches and firmware updates to ensure the SCADA system remains up-to-date and secure.
  • Control System Programming: Program PLCs for control and process information gathering and reporting.
  • Database Management: Develop and update equipment databases, software licenses, device applications, and configurations.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain technical library, accurate records, documentation, and work reports. Modify documents and drawings as needed.
  • Technical Support: Advise SCADA Manager of technology upgrades and assist in planning for upgrades. Provide input and cost information for budgets.
  • Vendor Management: Develop specifications for vendors for repairs, upgrades, and new installation work.
  • Inventory Management: Manage equipment and software inventory, including spares, and order replacement equipment and software as needed.
  • Training and Development: Train technicians and operations staff in the operation and maintenance of SCADA and PLCs.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Confer with contractors, operators, mechanics, project engineers, and supervisors about SCADA issues.
  • Customer Support: Respond to and resolve internal customer complaints and issues.
  • Documentation and Compliance: Provide documentation as required by others. Follow procurement rules to order parts.
  • Health and Safety: Practice safe work procedures such as the NFPA 70E and OSHA.
  • Plant Data Management: Provide plant data and backups by tagging databases to reports and iHistorian server; creating reports; updating HMI screens; and backing up DEP documents and GE Intelligent Platform.
  • Administrative Duties: Perform administrative duties by attending meetings, training employees, completing work orders, maintaining vehicles, and answering emails.
  • Instrumentation and Control: Understand field instrumentation for troubleshooting, loop checkout, calibration, and support the functional checkout of a control system.
Requirements
  • Education: Master's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or Electronics.
  • Experience: Ten (10) years' experience in SCADA control systems development and maintenance.
  • License: Valid State of Florida Class E Driver's License.
Desirable Qualifications
  • SCADA Software Proficiency: Proficiency in major SCADA software platforms (Preferably GE Proficy HMI, and Rockwell Automation).
  • Programming Languages: Experience with programming languages used in SCADA systems (e.g., Python, C++, ladder logic).
  • Networking Principles: Knowledge of networking principles, including TCP/IP, VPN, firewalls, and Ethernet.
  • Database Management: Experience with database management systems (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle).
  • Industrial Control Hardware: Familiarity with PLCs, RTUs, HMIs, and other industrial control hardware.
