The Engineering Technician plays a crucial role in representing Planate to our clients by delivering essential information and reports as needed. This position is tasked with overseeing contractor compliance in executing construction projects and adhering to project timelines on behalf of the facility owner across multiple initiatives, while also communicating key issues to the management team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain accurate construction contract documentation in accordance with VA standards.
  • Conduct site visits to gather information on facility conditions and provide recommendations during project development.
  • Coordinate and participate in post-award kick-off meetings and pre-construction conferences.
  • Schedule, facilitate, and document regular progress meetings and other construction-related discussions with all stakeholders to assess project status, address challenges, and find solutions.
  • Prepare project status reports as directed, utilizing the VA enterprise contract management system format.
  • Facilitate construction operations among contractors, station personnel, and other government entities, providing recommendations for improvements.
  • Offer technical support in responding to requests for information (RFI) from construction contractors.
  • Monitor and review project schedules for construction progress, focusing on milestone completion dates, workflow, material deliveries, and testing schedules.
  • Perform additional responsibilities associated with this position as necessary.

Qualifications for Success:

  • Experience in facility maintenance.
  • Strong organizational skills for managing project documents, generating progress reports, and documenting issues.
  • Knowledge of local codes, safety regulations, and quality control processes.
  • Experience in tracking and resolving quality and safety issues, supporting management in their resolution.
  • Field knowledge of safety protocols, scheduling, and cost control is preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction documents effectively.
  • Current OSHA 30-hour training certification is preferred.
