Job Summary

The Banquet Houseperson plays a vital role in supporting the banquet department with setup, reset, and support before, during, and after events. This position requires attention to detail, strong communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Event Preparation: Maintain the cleanliness and organization of banquet rooms, hallways, storage, and service areas.
  • Inventory Management: Perform routine inventory and care for banquet supplies, including linens, chairs, china, glassware, flatware, and decorations.
  • Event Execution: Set up the banquet room according to the specifications of a banquet events order and reset the room to its original state after the event has concluded.
  • Support Services: Assist servers, transport tables and equipment, report maintenance issues to management, and provide requested information to banquet patrons.
  • Special Projects: Help assemble temporary dance floors, podiums, and other structures.
  • Communication: Relay data to outside departments and assist audio-visual personnel in setting up equipment like speakers and monitors.
  • Other Duties: Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Requirements
  • Education: High School diploma or GED preferred.
  • Experience: Six months of prior experience in the food service or hospitality industry preferred.
  • Skills: Basic math and language skills, including the ability to follow instructions and communicate effectively (both verbally and in writing).
  • Personal Qualities: Multitasking, reasoning, problem-solving, and attention to detail.
  • Customer Service: Ability to maintain poise in fast-paced, high-stress situations and provide strong customer service skills.
Work Environment

This is a physically demanding position that requires frequent standing, walking, forward bending, and trunk rotation while standing. The ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 lbs. frequently and up to 100 lbs. on wheels is also required. Vision, close, peripheral, depth, distance, and focus adjustment are required frequently, as well as frequent use of hands with a forceful grip.
