Database and IT Support Specialist

This position combines the responsibilities of a Database Administrator/Developer and IT Support, requiring a unique blend of technical skills and expertise. The successful candidate will assist with data-related tasks, including data extractions, reporting requests, data analysis, and database maintenance tasks such as backups, blocking resolution, and security.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supports implementation and configuration of database security architecture, software, and controls.
- Assists with maintenance in production and non-production environments.
- Troubleshoots database issues and data-related problems.
- Maintains and tunes backup and recovery processes.
- Daily use of commercial database technology (e.g. MSSQL), Open Source-Available Database technologies (e.g. MySQL, MariaDB), database tools such as SQL Server Management Studio, and Operating Systems such as MacOS, Linux, and Windows.
- Develops SQL queries and SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) reports for data extraction, analysis, and reporting.
Requirements:
- BS degree in a computer discipline or relevant certification, or equivalent experience.
- Intermediate experience as a Database Administrator or Developer.
- Hands-on experience with database standards and end-user applications.
- Some knowledge of data backup, recovery, security, and data integrity.
Additional Requirements:
- Familiarity with SQL Server Management Studio, SQL Server 2016 and 2019, and SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS).
- Experience with Microsoft Office Tools (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
- Solid problem-solving skills and ability to think logically.
- Open to learning new technologies and software.
- Some experience in software configuration and troubleshooting.
- Familiar with project management software to track progress and any setbacks.
