As a vital member of a dedicated and compassionate development team, the Major Gifts Officer at Brio Living Services will uphold the highest standards of professionalism and ethics in identifying, nurturing, soliciting, and managing major and planned gifts that align with the organization's mission. This role requires a deep commitment to enhancing the dignity and well-being of older adults, along with the capability to foster genuine, long-lasting relationships with community members and key stakeholders. All activities will be conducted in compliance with relevant federal, state, and local regulations, as well as organizational policies.

Key Responsibilities

Portfolio Management

  • Build and maintain a portfolio of over 100 potential donors, including individuals, foundations, and corporations, focused on generating substantial financial support for Brio Living Services.
  • Employ a strategic moves management approach to effectively utilize prospect research, enhancing gift solicitation efforts and nurturing relationships with potential donors.
  • Engage in the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of major donors, foundations, and corporations.

Strategic Planning

  • Collaborate with the President and CEO to formulate and execute both short-term and long-term fundraising strategies aimed at increasing support for the needs of older adults.
  • Utilize a moves management framework to optimize prospect research, bolstering gift solicitation initiatives and fostering donor relationships.

Relationship Development

  • Implement best practices in philanthropic gift planning, determining the most effective mix of current and deferred giving to fulfill the aspirations of donors and Brio Living Services.
  • Engage non-development staff, Board members, and volunteers in identifying prospects, developing relationship management strategies, and facilitating the solicitation process.
  • Present the mission and vision of Brio Living Services with confidence and clarity.
  • Act as a liaison to residents, staff, and community organizations as necessary.
  • Foster an environment characterized by warmth, personal engagement, and positive interactions.
  • Ensure confidentiality of all organizational information.

Leadership

  • Utilize performance metrics and reporting tools to monitor and guide fundraising objectives and maintain accurate donor records.
  • Provide leadership for various programs and events as needed.
  • Embrace and exemplify the faith-based mission and core values of Brio Living Services.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution.
  • A minimum of 4 years of progressive experience in major gift fundraising.
  • CFRE certification is preferred.
  • Demonstrated success in securing major gifts with integrity and respect.
  • Experience working with high-net-worth individuals.
  • Ability to analyze and guide prospects through the cultivation and solicitation process.
  • Flexibility in communication style to adapt to various situations while maintaining a warm and engaging atmosphere.
  • Willingness to travel for meetings, workshops, and conferences to stay informed on fundraising trends and maintain professional development.
  • Availability for occasional evening and weekend commitments.
