Position Overview

We are currently in search of skilled Internal Medicine physicians to fulfill the role of academic hospitalists within the Inpatient Medical Oncology unit at Emory University Hospital Midtown and/or Emory University Hospital. A full-time hospitalist will engage in approximately 26 weeks of inpatient duties annually, which includes providing direct patient care (including admissions) and overseeing the training of advanced practice providers and medical trainees (fellows and residents). Part-time opportunities are also available for outstanding candidates.

Ideal applicants will possess a strong background in managing acute medical conditions and complications/exacerbations of chronic diseases (preferably with previous experience as an academic hospitalist), along with additional training or experience in Palliative Medicine or Medical Oncology. Candidates lacking these specific qualifications should demonstrate a commitment to acquiring the necessary skills to deliver exemplary care to cancer patients through on-the-job training and educational opportunities.

Hospitalists will have the opportunity to support clinical trials in the inpatient setting and collaborate with fellow clinicians in the Department of Hematology and Medical Oncology, Winship Cancer Institute, and other departments across Emory University. There will be ample opportunities for teaching and research, including but not limited to outcomes research and quality improvement initiatives, for those interested in pursuing these avenues. Academic rank of Assistant Professor or higher will be determined based on experience, in accordance with the promotion guidelines of Emory University School of Medicine.
