Ultrasound Technologist with Expertise in Diagnostic Imaging

Advocate Aurora Health is seeking a skilled Ultrasound Technologist to join their team in Hometown, Illinois.

About the Role

This is a full-time position that requires 40 hours of work per week, with evenings as the primary shift. The successful candidate will be responsible for positioning patients and selecting technical factors and equipment to obtain scans of optimal quality.

The ideal candidate will have high technical knowledge to perform specialized ultrasound studies with minimal assistance from radiologists. They should be able to make diagnostic judgments when scanning and present them to the radiologist for interpretation.

Responsibilities
  • Positioning patients and selecting technical factors and equipment for optimal scan quality
  • Making diagnostic judgments and presenting them to radiologists for interpretation
  • Documenting patient records and maintaining departmental standards
  • Securing patient history and providing it to radiologists before film interpretation
  • Complying with safety standards to ensure patient and staff well-being
  • Staying up-to-date with current ultrasound skills and new developments in the field
Requirements
  • ARDMS Registry eligibility with successful completion within the first year of employment
  • CPR Certification
  • Possessing a high degree of technical knowledge to perform specialized ultrasound studies
  • Able to make diagnostic judgments and present them to radiologists
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
  • Ability to adjust to flexible hours and respond to emergency call-backs
  • Ability to stand for long periods, view small CRT screens, and perform lifting activities related to patients
  • Exposed to radiation and able to operate portable equipment
  • Ability to communicate with patients and deal with extremely ill patients
  • Participation in an on-call program and ability to work weekends, holidays, and emergency call-backs

This position comes with a competitive salary, estimated at around $80,000 per year, depending on experience.
