Join the Solid Waste Division as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic Supervisor. Lead a proficient team in the upkeep and repair of heavy machinery, vehicles, and support equipment for land operations.

Ensure the effective functioning of the Solid Waste Management Workshop by overseeing supervision, coordinating repairs, and managing maintenance tasks to minimize downtime and uphold safety standards.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Assign, direct, and oversee the activities of equipment mechanics.
  • Handle routine personnel matters concerning team members.
  • Diagnose and resolve issues in vehicles and heavy machinery.
  • Perform quality assurance inspections on equipment undergoing repairs.

Essential Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED with six (6) years of experience in vehicle/heavy machinery repair, including supervisory experience; or equivalent.
  • Valid NC Class A Commercial Driver's License with Hazmat Endorsement.
  • ASE certification in brake systems and preventive maintenance inspections, along with CFC recovery certification within one year of employment.
  • Possession of a complete master mechanic's tool set.
  • Successful completion of industrial physical examinations.

Knowledge and Skills Required:
  • Understanding of repair and maintenance protocols for gasoline and diesel-powered vehicles and machinery.
  • Proficient in utilizing tools and equipment for maintenance and repair tasks.
  • Capability to supervise mechanics while performing manual labor.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Comprehension of safety protocols and promotion of safety awareness.

Employment Conditions:
  • Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
  • Pre-employment screenings, including criminal history checks and drug tests, are mandatory.
