KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The Senior Accounting Specialist will oversee essential accounting functions, including assisting in the monthly closing processes and analyzing the company's financial statements through various accounting methodologies. This role will also provide support to other accounting staff as necessary.
Essential Functions
- Prepare monthly accounting journal entries, including accruals.
- Reconcile various banking statements on a monthly basis.
- Manage and implement internal accounting systems, including corporate credit cards, financial consolidations, general ledgers, fixed assets, and employee expenses.
- Generate and distribute monthly customer invoices, ensuring necessary follow-up.
- Provide audit support and necessary documentation.
- Maintain detailed schedules for audit compliance.
- Assist in inventory management and reconciliation, including costing and WIP transfers.
- Handle job and product costing tasks.
- Execute monthly, quarterly, and annual closing procedures.
- Process bi-weekly payroll for employees.
- Supply accounting and financial data for cost control analysis to department heads.
- Manage fixed assets, including capitalization and depreciation.
- Ensure adherence to local, provincial, and federal budgetary reporting requirements.
- Maintain compliance with IFRS and accounting policies, including internal controls and transaction facilitation.
- Exhibit a professional and approachable demeanor that reflects the company culture.
- Handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, with progress towards a professional designation.
- Over three years of experience in an Accounting or Finance role, preferably within a manufacturing or inventory-focused environment.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel; familiarity with Dynamics 365 is a plus.
- Fluent in English, with strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent multitasking and time management abilities in a fast-paced, high-accountability setting, with flexibility to adapt to changing deadlines.
- Uphold the highest standards of personal conduct in all responsibilities.
- Collaborate effectively with personnel at all levels, both internally and externally.
- Demonstrate creativity and problem-solving skills while exhibiting excellent organizational capabilities.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to lift and carry equipment and components weighing up to 25 pounds.
- Operate standard office equipment.
- Sit and/or stand for extended periods, up to several hours daily.
- Walk or travel to production areas while wearing appropriate Personal Protection Equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, steel-toe shoes/boots, and a hard hat.
