Position Overview:
Join a team dedicated to ensuring a safe and secure environment for students and staff. At Allegany College of Maryland, we pride ourselves on fostering a supportive and family-oriented workplace. Our employees are committed to student success and community engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
As a Campus Safety Officer, you will be entrusted with the following duties:
1. Monitor access at the student housing entrance, verifying the identity of individuals entering and exiting the premises.
2. Respond to emergencies by contacting appropriate personnel or emergency services as necessary.
3. Provide immediate assistance in emergency situations, including fire safety, first aid, and CPR.
4. Conduct inspections of outdoor lighting and safety equipment, documenting findings as required.
5. Maintain security protocols at the gatehouse, ensuring the safety of residents.
6. Report any violations of campus policies and regulations.
7. Maintain accurate records, including daily logs and incident reports.
8. Assist in training new security personnel as needed.
Additional Duties:
1. Perform snow removal tasks at the gatehouse when necessary.
2. Fill in as a Main Campus Security Officer when assigned.
3. Undertake other responsibilities as directed.
Qualifications:
A High School Diploma or G.E.D is required. An Associate's degree in Criminal Justice or a related field, along with relevant experience in law enforcement, is preferred. Training in emergency response procedures will be provided.
Skills and Abilities:
The ideal candidate will possess the ability to respond swiftly to incidents, effectively de-escalate situations, and follow established safety protocols. Experience working with diverse populations is highly valued. Knowledge of mental health resources is also preferred.
