About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Data Engineer to join our Enterprise Data & Analytics team at Ally Financial. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining large-scale data pipelines and objects in our cloud-based warehouse.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and Development: Engage in application design discussions to upscale applications, break down designs into build/change components, and lead code review sessions to validate adherence to development standards.
  • Leadership and Collaboration: Lead the activities to transition new development into Production Operations, leverage DevOps techniques, and experience with DevOps tools like GitLab, Jira, and Terraform.
  • Data Engineering: Develop expertise in ETL/ELT tools, data modeling, and vaulting techniques, and work closely with various groups throughout the organization to communicate with associates with diverse backgrounds.
  • Technical Skills: Possess strong query writing skills, expertise in programming languages like Python, JavaScript, and R, and knowledge of ML models and techniques to evaluate performance.
Requirements
  • 3+ years of experience in warehousing applications, either on-prem or cloud-based, like Snowflake.
  • Expertise in ETL/ELT tools, data modeling, and vaulting techniques.
  • Strong AWS services knowledge and experience with DevOps tools.
  • Excellent query writing and SQL procedural language skills.
  • Ability to work in a large, complex business and technical environment with competing priorities.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in data engineering/data transformation.
  • AWS Certified.
  • Snowflake Pro certified.
  • Automotive Finance or Insurance Industry experience.
