Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Project Geotechnical Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our geotechnical engineering group, you will be responsible for managing complex projects, working with a team of experienced engineers, and developing early career professionals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop geotechnical engineering scope of services and fee estimates
  • Plan and oversee geotechnical subsurface explorations
  • Manage and review geotechnical and construction phase observation and testing field work performed by others
  • Assign, review, and interpret geotechnical laboratory tests
  • Perform and review geotechnical engineering analyses and calculations
  • Develop geotechnical engineering recommendations and write geotechnical engineering reports
  • Perform project management activities, including communicating resource needs, managing client expectations, planning and delegating work, management of project budgets, invoicing, and backlog reporting
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program
  • Licensed Professional Engineer with the ability to obtain by comity, or able to obtain Professional Engineer license within 12 months of engagement
  • 4+ years of relevant professional experience in consulting geotechnical engineering
  • Willingness and ability to travel
  • AutoCAD and GIS skills suitable for developing geotechnical deliverables
  • Ability to advance proficiency with geotechnical engineering analysis software such as LPILE, APILE, and SHAFT, GeoStudio, Settle3D, and FoSSA, OpenGround, or similar programs
Preferred Qualifications
  • Project management experience for a variety of transportation projects
  • Background knowledge of the transportation market in the Southeastern USA, and ability to develop client relationships
  • Experience with transportation agency policies, procedures (e.g. GDOT, SCDOT, NCDOT, FDOT) and requirements
