Your role will involve designing, testing, and implementing cutting-edge technologies to enhance aircraft performance, safety, and dependability, ensuring we continue to provide outstanding aviation solutions. You will work collaboratively with various departments to guarantee that our products and services adhere to the highest industry standards.
As an Aviation Systems Specialist, you will be responsible for generating requirements, specifications, block diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams, layout drawings, bills of material, flight manual supplements, and test plans/reports for the design, development, and integration of sophisticated aircraft electrical and avionics systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the management of systems and electrical engineering deliverables.
- Formulate, implement, and monitor assigned engineering programs to meet overall objectives, technical requirements, schedules, contracts, and specifications.
- Control and report on project engineering budgets and variances.
- Coordinate data submissions for FAA certification support.
- Actively participate in Preliminary Design Reviews (PDRs) and Critical Design Reviews (CDRs).
- Interface with other Engineering Leads, Program Managers, and departments to ensure comprehensive design requirements are established and provide estimates for necessary activities.
- Conduct technical reviews of drawings to ensure zero rework at the production level.
- Complete assignments within specified timeframes while upholding engineering quality standards.
- Provide timely technical support to production, quality, and other departments regarding design data interpretation and implementation.
- Deliverables include:
- Electrical/Systems Drawings
- Block Diagrams
- Electrical Load Analysis/Change Reports
- Associated Test Plans
- System Safety Assessments/Functional Hazard Assessments
- Aircraft Flight Manual Supplements
- Required Approvals
- Wire Routing Drawings
- Assist with ICAs, Certification Plans, and Issue Papers as necessary
- Assist the Engineering Director as needed.
- Perform additional job duties as assigned.
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
- Bachelor's degree in a technical field or five years of relevant work experience.
- Strong understanding of design practices necessary for compliance with FAA regulations and policies.
- Able to work independently or collaboratively to solve problems.
- Self-motivated with the ability to generate innovative ideas.
- Ability to foster a collaborative team environment.
- Willingness to work overtime and weekends as required.
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Proficient in AutoCAD and familiar with Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Knowledge of design practices necessary for FAA compliance.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team to resolve challenges.
- Physical ability to navigate the facility as required.
- Regularly required to sit for extended periods.
- Capability to lift up to 60 lbs.
- Ability to bend, kneel, and stretch to work on various aircraft components.
- Strong analytical and logical thinking skills.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
- DER authorization is preferred but not mandatory.
