Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Institutional Maintenance Mechanic to join our team at the State of Vermont. As a key member of our Operations and Management Division, you will be responsible for performing daily maintenance tasks at the Chittenden Regional Correctional Facility and other state facilities in the greater Burlington area.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, including plumbing repairs, HVAC maintenance, and electrical work
  • Work independently and as part of a team to ensure facilities are well-maintained and safe for occupants
  • Travel between facilities as needed, utilizing state-owned or privately-owned vehicles
  • Participate in emergency response efforts and provide standby coverage for long holiday weekends
Requirements
  • Completion of a trade program or technical school in electrical, HVAC, or plumbing, or buildings-related field
  • OR three (3) or more years of experience in building construction, structural maintenance, or building repair and maintenance
  • State licensure at or above the journeyman level in any trade area
  • One (1) or more years of experience as a team lead or overseeing maintenance projects
