Special Education Instructional Aide Inclusion Position

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Special Education Instructional Aide Inclusion to join our team at San Angelo Independent School District. The successful candidate will provide instructional support to students with disabilities, assist with classroom programs, and work under the supervision of the principal and teacher(s).

Responsibilities:
  • Assist the teacher in preparing instructional materials and maintaining a neat and orderly classroom.
  • Support students with physical needs and personal care, including feeding, toileting, and personal hygiene as needed.
  • Help manage behavior of students, including intervening in crisis situations and restraining dangerous student behavior as needed.
  • Assume responsibility for learning and adapting to each student's special academic, medical, physical, communicative, and emotional need.
  • Work with individual students or small groups to develop motor skills and conduct instructional exercises assigned by the teacher as needed.
  • Maintain confidentiality and communicate effectively with the teacher regarding the special needs or problems of individual students.

Requirements:
  • Associate Degree or two years of study at an institute of higher learning.
  • Valid Texas educational aide certificate.
  • Ability to work well with children with disabilities, assist with classroom instruction, and follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

Working Conditions:
  • Work is performed on campus, indoors and outdoors.
  • Biological exposure to bacteria and communicable diseases.
  • Maintain emotional control under stress and work with frequent interruptions.
