Job Title: City Engineer

Join the City of Wauwatosa as a City Engineer and lead our Department of Engineering professionals. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for planning, organizing, directing, and administering functions of the Engineering Division of the Department of Public Works.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement policies, procedures, and practices to provide professional engineering services for all City-owned infrastructure.
  • Lead the City's continued efforts to complete high-quality infrastructure projects through the implementation of a Five-Year Capital Infrastructure Program that exceeds $150 Million.
  • Explore creative and forward-thinking engineering solutions to ensure the City can meet the exciting and dynamic needs of people who choose to live, work, or play in Wauwatosa.
  • Manage the development and implementation of City, departmental, and divisional goals, objectives, policies, and priorities.
  • Collaborate with the City's Development Department to ensure City infrastructure is capable of supporting redevelopment policies and goals throughout the City.
  • Oversee the development and administration of the Engineering Division's budget.
  • Actively communicate with elected officials, residents, and the general public regarding City projects and other engineering initiatives.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in civil engineering from an accredited college or university.
  • Master's Degree preferred.
  • Minimum of twelve years of increasingly responsible and varied public or private sector civil engineering experience required with at least six years of project management experience, preferably in the public sector.
  • Minimum of three years of supervisory experience.
  • Professional Engineer designation in Wisconsin required.
  • A valid Wisconsin Driver's License.
