Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Parish Musician to join our team at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the faithful in full and active participation in the sacred music of the liturgy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the congregation in singing during 2 Sunday morning Masses (8:00am and 9:45am)
  • Accompany the Schola and Traditional choirs during rehearsals and performances
  • Prepare and practice music outside of rehearsals to ensure a high level of proficiency
  • Develop and maintain strong sight-reading skills
  • Improve improvisation skills, including reading chords and lead sheets
  • Be aware of liturgical elements and the order of the Holy Mass
  • Demonstrate enthusiasm for sacred music and serving in liturgical ministry
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in music or equivalent experience
  • 2+ years of experience serving in music ministry at a Catholic parish
  • Excellent sight-reading skills and thorough knowledge of playing the organ/piano
  • Comfortable with both homophonic and polyphonic music
  • Active, practicing Catholic with a passion for using musical talent to give glory to God
Physical Demands

The physical demands of this role include being mobile within the church campus and maneuvering throughout the facility to attend Mass, practice, and other work-related events. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
