Key Responsibilities:
In partnership with the psychiatrist, guide the management of patients with concurrent medical conditions.
Deliver medical consultations and comprehensive services to patients and their families, including thorough assessments of physical symptoms and pharmacological interventions.
Specific Duties:
Conduct admission histories and physical examinations for youth and young adults in psychiatric care within 24 hours of their admission.
Make appropriate medical referrals when necessary.
Collaborate with physicians and registered nurses to review cases, provide treatment, and offer insights regarding the capability to care for patients with complex medical presentations.
Demonstrate cultural competence and age-appropriate care for the designated patient population.
Educate staff and patients/families on relevant health topics.
Work schedule consists of alternating 7 days on/7 days off, with two Healthcare Consultants assigned for each 7-day period.
While there is flexibility in hours, anticipate being physically present in the facility during standard business hours, Monday through Friday, and remain available by phone for off-site consultations.
Availability until 8:00 PM for occasional phone consultations with hospital staff, with the schedule coordinated with the Primary Care Providers for each shift.
Qualifications:
This role requires medical expertise typically held by individuals trained as nurse practitioners or certified physician assistants.
A valid Minnesota RN license and NP certification or registration by the MN Board of Medical Practice, along with PA certification by the NCCPA, are mandatory.
Candidates should possess education and/or significant experience working with both pediatric and adult populations.Experience with psychiatric conditions in both adults and youth is preferred.
Must be knowledgeable of and adhere to state regulations governing practice, demonstrating a positive attitude in all clinical interactions.
Ability to function effectively as part of a multidisciplinary treatment team is essential.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook and Word, is required.
Strong skills in clinical case management, time management, and both written and verbal communication are necessary.
Must maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
Ability to provide care across all age groups in accordance with licensure or the capacity to develop these skills is essential.
Must manage a variety of clinical responsibilities efficiently.
