Position Overview
The role of Purchasing Manager demands a high level of technical and engineering acumen to effectively liaise with suppliers regarding component specifications essential for our manufacturing processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all facets of procurement and the integration of engineered solutions into production workflows.
- Collaborate closely with both internal and external engineering teams to ensure successful sourcing of components.
- Possess comprehensive knowledge of the company's ERP system, contributing to its enhancement and optimization.
- Conduct thorough evaluations of potential suppliers; manage competitive quoting and supplier qualification processes.
- Formulate and develop strategic sourcing and purchasing plans.
- Supervise the sampling and product approval processes, ensuring alignment with cost, quality, and quantity standards.
- Negotiate favorable vendor contracts to benefit the organization.
- Engage in global team initiatives to promote procedural consistency and share best practices.
- Establish and maintain robust relationships with key suppliers.
- Perform annual assessments to gauge overall cost savings following the implementation of new strategies.
- Stay informed on industry trends and best practices through professional organizations.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations in all procurement practices.
- Monitor market dynamics to identify emerging opportunities.
- Prepare and issue purchase requisitions and orders as necessary.
- Focus on acquiring materials that enhance quality while reducing costs.
- Manage the Purchasing function in alignment with organizational goals, ensuring timely issuance of purchase orders and component deliveries.
- Track budget variances to ensure adherence to financial guidelines.
- Provide recommendations to support the achievement of business objectives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field, complemented by relevant experience.
- Proven experience in supply chain management.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel, including:
- Pivot Tables
- Graphing
- Data Analysis
- Formula Usage
- VBA experience is a plus.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in a high-volume production environment.
- Exceptional negotiation and networking abilities.
- In-depth understanding of manufacturing processes, including stamping, fine blanking, machining, die casting, investment casting, and injection molding.
- Willingness to travel up to 10%.
