Electrical Engineer Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join our team at Actalent. As an Electrical Engineer, you will be responsible for facilitating on-site engineering and project assistance for substation construction projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform testing of substation equipment, including power circuit breakers, transformers, and static capacitors.
  • Verify CT/PT ratio, CT polarity, transformer impedance, power factor for transformers, timing of power circuit breakers, and insulation voltage withstand tests.
  • Support the design, implementation, maintenance, and improvement of electrical instruments, equipment, facilities, components, products, and systems.
  • Operate computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering tasks.
  • Gather information for electrical drawings, reports, and calculations to support engineering solutions for electrical systems.
  • Assist with coordinating construction, installation, maintenance, support, documentation, or testing activities to maintain compliance with specifications, codes, and customer requirements.
  • Perform detailed calculations to compute and establish construction, and installation standards and specifications.
  • Assist with inspection of completed installations and verification of operations to maintain conformance to design and equipment specifications and compliance with operational and safety standards.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited school.
  • 6 months of experience and knowledge of electrical engineering concepts, principals, and practices applicable to components and facilities found on a regional transmission system.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite products, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
  • Training or experience in Power Systems Engineering sufficient to allow knowledge development of design standards through on-the-job training.
  • Demonstrated ability to read and understand electrical prints, including one-lines, wiring diagrams, and schematics to determine how the protection and control systems operate.
