Electrical Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join our team at Burns & McDonnell. The successful candidate will assist project teams in creating world-class designs for new projects, alterations, and redevelopments on various projects, including power, process, corporate, healthcare, airports, institutional, industrial, manufacturing, government, and military facilities.
The Assistant Electrical Engineer will work with the project team throughout the design and construction process, adapting electrical plans according to budget constraints, design factors, or client needs. Key responsibilities include:
- Assisting in the electrical design of projects from the conceptual phase through design completion.
- Modifying and reviewing production drawings for various projects, including power plants, process facilities, industrial facilities, healthcare facilities, airports, educational institutions, commercial, and governmental and military facilities.
- Designing electrical components for project needs and requirements set forth by project managers.
- Applying basic knowledge of commonly used electrical concepts, practices, codes, and procedures within the electrical engineering services industry.
- Assisting with research and compiling project-related data as required by project managers.
- Correcting and updating drawings provided by senior engineers to verify corrections are made within multiple CAD-related software.
- Assisting with client presentations, shop drawing review, and contract administration for the design of power, process, industrial, healthcare, airports, educational institutions, commercial, and governmental and military facilities.
- Performing field inspections, measurements, or calculations for public and private clients.
- Performing other duties as assigned.
- Complying with all policies and standards.
Requirements
The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related degree from an ABET-accredited program. Prior internship and/or related consulting experience is preferred. The candidate should have basic knowledge in standard electrical engineering techniques, principles, and procedures. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential, as is the ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment. Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite and electrical analysis programs, are also required. Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization, and problem-solving skills are necessary. Demonstrated leadership skills and Engineers in Training (EIT) Certification are preferred. A minimum of a 3.0 GPA is strongly preferred, as is involvement in campus or community activities. The candidate must be legally authorized to work permanently in the country where this position is located.
