POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) plays a crucial role in delivering personalized patient care by enhancing and restoring health through the nursing process. This position involves collaboration with physicians and a multidisciplinary team, providing both physical and emotional support to patients, their families, and supervising team members.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Conduct comprehensive patient evaluations, prioritizing data collection based on the patient's current condition or requirements, in accordance with established policies and in collaboration with healthcare team members. Continuously monitor patient status and assess their needs to ensure optimal care and guidance.
2. Administer treatments and medications as prescribed by healthcare providers, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in all procedures.
3. Implement therapeutic nursing interventions and deliver care with respect to age and cultural sensitivity, tailored to the unique needs of each patient and their family.
4. Provide personalized education to patients and their families, ensuring understanding and engagement in the care process.
5. Maintain thorough documentation of patient conditions, assessment results, and responses to nursing interventions, tracking progress towards resolution of health issues.
6. Initiate emergency resuscitation measures in accordance with established adult resuscitation and advanced life support protocols.
7. Uphold patient confidentiality while delivering care in a respectful, non-judgmental manner that acknowledges the diversity of patients and their families, preserving their rights and dignity.
8. Observe and interpret patient symptoms, effectively communicating findings to healthcare providers and team members during shift transitions.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Maintain professional competency in nursing through ongoing education.
- Ensure cleanliness and safety within the healthcare environment by regularly inspecting facilities and decontaminating equipment.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION:
- Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited institution.
EXPERIENCE:
- Prior experience in an acute care environment.
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:
- Current RN Licensure in good standing.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within a specified timeframe upon hire.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to work collaboratively with patients, families, physicians, and other healthcare professionals.
- Proficiency in utilizing Electronic Health Records (EHR) for patient care and coordination.
- Excellent verbal communication skills.
- Capacity to work with others to enhance quality and address patient needs.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited institution.
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
The position requires the ability to stand, sit, and walk frequently, with occasional use of hands and fingers. The employee must be able to exert varying amounts of force to move objects as necessary.
