Position Summary: The Supply Chain Commodity Specialist plays a crucial role in overseeing the supply chain operations by sourcing and evaluating commodities for our product lines and related accessories. This position involves managing materials from their initial stages through production and eventual retirement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Advise the development team on suitable components and vendors.
- Negotiate pricing and availability of materials during the design phase.
- Collaborate with manufacturing partners during production to ensure material availability, addressing requests and delays while minimizing excess and obsolescence.
- Identify second sourcing opportunities and implement cost-saving measures throughout the product lifecycle.
- Establish and nurture strong relationships with commodity suppliers and distributors.
- Negotiate advantageous terms and pricing for essential commodities and allocate them to our manufacturing partners.
- Maintain an accurate Costed Bill of Materials for all product SKUs, assessing and recommending new vendors to the development team.
- Analyze market trends and assess risks when selecting partners and component solutions.
- Resolve vendor disputes and manage warranty claims effectively.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, economics, or a related field.
- A minimum of four years of experience in supply chain or commodity management.
- Strong understanding of financial markets and factors affecting electronic product pricing.
- Experience with consumer commodities, including electronics and mechanical components.
- Excellent risk management skills, with the ability to identify risks and develop mitigation strategies.
- Strong negotiation skills and effective communication with vendors and suppliers.
- Proven leadership abilities and the capacity to collaborate with diverse teams.
- A personal interest in outdoor sporting activities is advantageous.
