This role is based in Norwalk, CT, with expected travel to the Home Fragrance office in South Deerfield, MA every other week for a minimum of 2 days.
Position Overview:
The Junior Brand Strategist role for Yankee Candle will concentrate on achieving business outcomes within the current year while laying the groundwork for future growth in a designated region. The position emphasizes effective management of existing business operations, refining current plans to meet financial targets, and supporting the launch of new products within the year.
• Collaborate closely with the global brand marketing team.
• Engage with various business units and key functions—Sales, Manufacturing, Sourcing, Distribution, Customer Service, IT, Finance, HR, Legal—as well as centralized support teams to drive profitable sales for the brand.
• Regularly conduct analyses to assess business performance, identifying reasons for success or shortfalls and offering recommendations for growth enhancement.
• Gain insights into the target consumer and their journey, delivering compelling communication at critical moments to boost purchase intent.
• Utilize eCommerce and Direct-to-Consumer data to enhance omnichannel performance.
• Manage business operations with a focus on agility and profitability enhancement.
Key Responsibilities:
• Assist in the development of the annual brand marketing and business strategy.
• Provide timely monthly brand performance reports with insightful commentary.
• Construct and oversee a forecasting model.
• Aid the team in achieving demand forecasts within acceptable error margins.
• Identify growth opportunities through analytical insights.
• Support the execution of localized advertising campaigns adapted from global creative assets.
• Contribute to public relations and brand communication strategies.
• Collaborate with sales and customer planning teams to prepare presentations for key clients and ensure readiness for joint business initiatives.
• Integrate and analyze multiple data sources to inform business improvement strategies.
• Monitor and evaluate brand performance metrics, competitive actions, market trends, and consumer feedback to assess the success of innovations, promotions, and other brand initiatives.
• Develop a comprehensive understanding of the underlying factors influencing each metric.
• Identify gaps in market understanding and lead analyses to address these gaps.
• Prepare reports and presentations to communicate key insights and recommendations to the Brand Manager and senior leadership.
• Analyze the sales velocity of current products and identify potential distribution challenges.
• Assess competitors to pinpoint weaknesses that can be leveraged for market share growth.
• Conduct shelf share analyses to uncover growth opportunities and potential discontinuation threats, proactively recommending solutions.
• Execute promotional displays and shipper programs.
• Streamline the management of shippers and displays within the brand portfolio.
• Review competitor performance and products to identify best practices, threats, and opportunities; generate insights on enhancing Newell's performance.
• Draft briefs for social media content.
• Collaborate with central teams to implement social media strategies and content.
• Analyze performance metrics and optimize future creative and posting strategies based on insights.
• Review media expenditure reports and reconcile against budget.
Required Experience/Qualifications:
· A four-year college degree; MBA preferred.
· 2+ years of relevant experience in brand management, marketing, or related fields.
· A strong desire to act as a business owner and a passion for brand management, with a proven track record of delivering results.
· Solid understanding of marketing principles.
· Analytical mindset with the capability to interpret data and generate insights.
· Creative problem-solving abilities.
· Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the capacity to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
· Strong written and verbal communication skills.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and familiarity with marketing analytics tools.
· Up to 10% travel potential.
· Fluent in English.

The CT base pay range for this position is from $92,925 to $113,575. Salary will be based on prior experience related to the skills required for this position.
