We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Park District Maintenance Supervisor to join our team at the City of Atlanta. As a key member of our Public Works department, you will be responsible for overseeing the maintenance and upkeep of our city's parks and greenspaces.
Key Responsibilities- Coordinate and supervise the work of a maintenance crew and contractors, ensuring that all tasks are completed to the highest standard.
- Manage operations, including landscaping and natural area maintenance, to ensure the full and productive use of our city's facilities.
- Develop and implement routine, scheduled, and preventive maintenance programs for parks, greenspaces, amenities, and facilities.
- Assist in the development of goals, objectives, policies, and priorities for the maintenance program.
- Supervise specific projects as assigned by the Operations Manager and management, ensuring compliance with departmental standards, best practices, codes, and contract terms.
- Assign tasks, inspect areas, and ensure that work has been done properly and is performed to Department, local, state, and federal standards.
- Recommend equipment and supplies for purchase and maintain an inventory of department-owned tools, equipment, and supplies.
- Ensure that waste and byproducts of the District are disposed of according to applicable standards and procedures.
- Train and instruct maintenance personnel in safety procedures and the safe use of a wide variety of landscape, hand, and power tools.
- Respond to emergency requests and set up and tear down for special events as necessary.
- High school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED).
- 3 years' progressively responsible experience in landscaping, natural area maintenance, horticulture, arboriculture, facilities maintenance, or a related field.
- Preferred: Completion of an associate's degree in a related field and certification as a Certified Playground Inspector, Pesticide Licensure, CDL License, or other similar and related licenses or certifications.
