Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Parks Maintenance Specialist to join our team at the City of Atlanta. As a key member of our Public Works department, you will be responsible for maintaining the appearance and beauty of our City's parks and property, and recreation grounds.

Key Responsibilities

Perform general grounds maintenance activities, including mowing the grass, sweeping the sidewalks, streets, and curbsides, and removing fallen tree limbs and debris.
Weed, prune, and maintain flower beds and shrubs, and apply fertilizer and other chemicals necessary for growth (if licensed).
Paint and repair playground equipment, and install and repair park furniture, including benches, picnic tables, and bleachers.
Collect refuse and trash from Parks and Recreation routes, and operate and utilize dump truck, tractor, rear loader, riding mowers, weed eater, and other appropriate lawn and turf equipment necessary for completion of maintenance tasks.
Maintain Department City vehicles by monitoring fluid levels, checking for body damage, and cleaning and washing vehicles twice weekly.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED required.
Must possess a valid Georgia Class B Commercial Driver's License. Licenses must remain valid during tenure in this position.
One year ground maintenance experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.

Work Environment

This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with frequent exposure to changing weather conditions, and the ability to lift, carry, and maneuver heavy equipment and materials. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and teamwork skills, and be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
