Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Pre K Lead Teacher to join our team at Discovery Point. As a Pre K Lead Teacher, you will be responsible for planning and implementing engaging and interactive lessons that promote social, emotional, physical, and intellectual growth in our young students.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement lesson plans that align with our approved Pre K curriculum and meet the needs of our students.
  • Establish and maintain a safe and healthy learning environment that fosters a sense of community and respect among students, teachers, and staff.
  • Supervise and support a classroom of 20 children, working closely with an Assistant Teacher to ensure a positive and productive learning environment.
  • Set up and maintain the classroom to ensure a safe, fun, and age-appropriate learning environment.
  • Take appropriate steps to clean and sanitize classrooms, materials, and restrooms.
  • Treat children with dignity and respect, displaying friendly, enthusiastic, and caring behavior, while guiding them in a positive manner and teaching them to respect themselves and others.
  • Recognize and consider the background, special talents, and interests, style, and pace of learning of each child and provide developmentally appropriate activities.
  • Establish and maintain a safe and healthy learning environment.
  • Report any injuries or accidents to Management immediately and complete necessary forms.
  • Supervise the children as required by the Center and state regulations.
  • Participate with children in activities in the classroom and playgrounds appropriate.
  • Plan and conduct parent conferences; provide daily written feedback to parents as appropriate.
  • Partner with Center Director and/or Owner on any parent follow-up and communication.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all information on children and their families.
  • Report suspected abuse or neglect as mandated by state regulations.
  • Conduct Parent-Teacher conferences twice a year (more often as needed or requested by parent).
  • Attend Annual Professional Development Training as Required by Management.
  • Attend all staff meetings, training sessions, meetings and programs as requested by the Director and/or Owner.
  • Commitment to complete annual state licensing training requirements.
  • Perform other duties as requested by the Director and/or Owner.
Requirements:
  • Must meet state licensing requirements for education and experience.
  • 21 years of age or older. Exception: Lead teachers who have a valid Bachelor degree or higher teaching credential do not have to meet the minimum 21 years of age requirement.
  • Must be able to meet state background check requirements.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Two or Four Year Degree or CDA.
  • Teachers must have taught for at least 6 months of the school year.
  • Experience with Creative Curriculum a plus.
Compensation:

$8.50-$13.50 per hour
