ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES TECHNICIAN

Overview: This role is responsible for delivering comprehensive cleaning services to ensure the cleanliness and hygiene of specified areas while safeguarding building surfaces and furnishings. The incumbent will undertake cleaning duties across various sections of the facility, including patient rooms, nursing units, offices, clinical spaces, waiting areas, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, and hallways. Demonstrating proficiency in the use of appropriate cleaning agents and supplies according to established protocols is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Uphold the mission, vision, and values of Choctaw Regional Medical Center.
- Execute all assigned duties with professionalism to reflect the highest standards of the Environmental Services Department.
- Conduct routine cleaning of patient rooms, nursing units, offices, clinical areas, waiting areas, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, and corridors in a clean, organized, and sanitary manner.
- Perform regular and periodic maintenance of floor surfaces, including daily dusting and wet mopping, as well as periodic machine scrubbing, stripping, and refinishing.
- Manage daily and periodic maintenance of carpets and upholstery, including vacuuming, spot cleaning, and periodic shampooing and water extraction.
- Maintain and clean housekeeping equipment, including vacuum cleaners, carts, mopping tools, floor machines, and carpet shampooers.
- Dispose of infectious waste and manage the collection and removal of trash and soiled linens.
- Practice cost-effective measures by minimizing waste, mixing and diluting cleaning chemicals as per guidelines, and utilizing supplies according to policies.
- Foster a positive image for the facilities and the Housekeeping Department, ensuring interactions are courteous and respectful while assisting customers whenever possible.
- Complete the competency checklist annually or as required by departmental policy.
Qualifications:
- Completion of 8th grade; ability to read and write is essential.
- Prior experience in custodial work is preferred but not mandatory.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for extended periods, up to eight (8) hours.
- Frequent bending, stooping, and reaching are required.
- Capability to climb and work from ladders.
- Ability to routinely lift up to fifty (50) pounds.
- Ability to lift up to seventy-five (75) pounds on occasion.
- Willingness to work in proximity to patients with various illnesses and communicable diseases.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Proficient in operating various floor machines, vacuums, shampooers, and carpet extractors.
- Exhibit a friendly, helpful, and compassionate demeanor.
