Position Summary:
As a Wind Turbine Blade Maintenance Technician, you will play a vital role in our internal blade repair service team. This team is essential for the upkeep, inspection, and repair of turbine blades, significantly reducing downtime and enhancing productivity.
Key Responsibilities:
- Uphold the company's core values and adhere to the ONE RWE philosophy.
- Ensure all operational and maintenance tasks are executed safely and in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Utilize personal protective equipment, including fall arrest systems, and proactively identify potential hazards.
- Climb wind towers and access turbines to conduct composite repairs and maintenance.
- Transport necessary tools and equipment to job sites efficiently.
- Assist in the setup and operation of blade access mechanisms.
- Support a team in performing repairs on various turbine models, including GE, Siemens, Vestas, and Nordex.
- Facilitate the mobilization of repair equipment and assist in major component replacements, focusing primarily on blades.
- Maintain proper storage and handling of all repair service equipment.
- Perform safety-related tasks and provide backup support at other locations as required.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent is required; an associate degree in a relevant field is preferred.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in operations and maintenance within the power generation sector is necessary.
- Experience in renewable energy, particularly wind, is highly desirable.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent problem-solving capabilities and attention to detail.
- All candidates must pass physical fitness assessments to maintain Global Wind Organization Certification.
- Must possess a valid driver's license and be willing to relocate within a reasonable distance from the job site.
- Willingness to obtain a Commercial Driver License (CDL) if required.
Preferred Skills:
- GWO Certification.
- Knowledge of wind turbine blade construction and repair techniques.
- Experience with various manufacturers and blade access platforms.
- Understanding of composite materials and their applications.
- Ability to complete QA/QC documentation accurately.
Work Environment:
This role is primarily site-based and may require travel to multiple locations. Candidates must be capable of climbing wind towers regularly and performing maintenance tasks in various weather conditions.
