About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Associate Director to join our US Equity Indices Product Management team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for developing and executing product development strategies, conducting market research, and providing indexing solutions to clients.

The Impact

S&P DJI indices serve as the foundation for investment products and portfolio benchmarking. They underpin leading exchange-traded derivatives, ETFs, structured products, OTC instruments, and index funds, playing a crucial role in the investment landscape.

The Team

The US Equity Index Product Management team oversees a diverse set of index products, including iconic benchmarks such as the S&P 500 and Dow Jones Industrial Average, sector and style indices, and sustainability indices. As asset class experts, the Product Management team sets strategic priorities to drive revenue growth.

The Role

As an Associate Director, you will play a key role in ensuring the commercial success of US Equity indices. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Defining and executing product development strategy, working closely with the Head of US Equity Indices
  • Conducting market research and competitive analysis to support new product initiatives and strategic sales efforts
  • Developing a deep understanding of the underlying data and methodologies required to create and maintain our key US Equity indices
  • Managing multiple internal and external stakeholders with key messaging and deliverables
  • Representing US Equity indices in client and prospective client meetings as a subject matter expert
  • Supporting US Equity Indices through analysis and content creation for thought leadership materials (blogs, white papers, videos)
  • Collaborating with the Research and Design team on index design
  • Planning and coordinating tasks for the smooth and timely launch of new indices
  • Working closely across Product Management team members and supporting global initiatives
  • Taking direction from senior Product Management leadership and collaborating closely on projects with other product managers across the product organization
  • Identifying growth opportunities and developing a robust pipeline of growth for existing business, indices, and builds
  • Contributing to prioritization and backlog management, including sprint planning and executing on identified sprint deliveries

The role will allow the Associate Director to have impactful exposure to multiple groups within S&P DJI (Index Governance, Index Management & Production, Marketing and Communications, Research & Design, Client Coverage, and others), to global clients such as asset managers and asset owners, structured product desks, other financial technology and data players. Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Undergraduate degree required, master's degree in a relevant field or progress towards a CFA Charterholder status a plus
  • 5-7 years of relevant work experience
  • Understanding of the investment process, investment management industry, portfolio theory, and financial markets is required
  • Familiarity with sustainable financial topics and industry best practices, as well as sector and style investment strategies, is highly desirable
  • Self-driven with strong research and innovation skills
  • Strong multi-tasking capabilities is a must for this dynamic role that touches on every aspect of the index life-cycle
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills are essential, comfortable working with large datasets
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; candidate will eventually deliver high-quality presentations both internally to management and externally to clients
  • The position requires interacting with sophisticated clients and the candidate should demonstrate ability to ask questions and advise toward client solutions
  • Programming skills (Python, R, SQL, VBA, others) are desirable
  • Knowledge of financial packages such as FactSet, Capital IQ, Morningstar, Eikon, etc. is desirable
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team to effectively influence others and gain consensus
  • Demonstrated ability to handle steep learning curves; candidate should be very comfortable dealing with ambiguity and uncertainty
Compensation/Benefits Information (US Applicants Only)

S&P Global states that the anticipated base salary range for this position is $150,000 to $165,000. Base salary ranges may vary by geographic location. In addition to base compensation, this role is eligible for additional compensation such as an annual incentive bonus.
