Key Responsibilities:
- Perform maintenance and repairs on pea combines and harvesting machinery during the harvest season.
- Rebuild and service harvesting equipment during the off-season to ensure optimal performance.
- Conduct inspections and diagnostic tests on machines, engines, and transmissions to identify functionality issues.
- Make necessary adjustments to machinery in the field to maximize reliability and production efficiency.
- Troubleshoot and resolve reported mechanical problems promptly.
- Carry out comprehensive maintenance on machinery components, ensuring they are in excellent working condition.
- Replenish fluids and components as needed to maintain machinery functionality.
- Advise operators on proper maintenance practices and preventative measures.
- Document work performed and report any issues encountered.
- Train new operators on safe and effective operational procedures.
Qualifications:
- Demonstrated experience as a Mechanic with a solid understanding of machinery, hydraulic, electrical, and other systems.
- Diesel engine experience is advantageous.
- Proficient in using various hand tools.
- Ability to adhere to established procedures and interpret technical instructions.
- Strong commitment to health and safety protocols.
- Proficient in English, both written and spoken.
- Possession of a valid driver's license; CDL is a plus.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Mechanical certifications are beneficial but not mandatory.
- Physical capability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for extended periods, and work in various weather conditions.
Compensation is dependent on qualifications and experience.
