Job Title: Mechanic II

At Student Transportation of America, we are seeking a skilled Mechanic II to join our team. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for performing complex repairs and maintenance on our fleet of commercial vehicles.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform thorough, accurate preventative maintenance inspections to ensure our vehicles are safe and reliable.
  • Complete all required maintenance operations, including lubrication, fluid changes, brake adjustments, and tire rotation, following established schedules.
  • Perform unscheduled maintenance as needed, working closely with the Fleet Maintenance Supervisor to ensure timely completion of tasks.
  • Diagnose and repair complex issues with engines, electrical systems, fuel systems, brakes, and exhaust systems, requiring strong technical skills and attention to detail.
  • Provide emergency roadside services as needed, ensuring our vehicles are back on the road quickly and safely.
  • Inspect equipment and diagnose mechanical defects, documenting repairs and parts on work orders.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace, adhering to company standards.
  • Perform other duties as required, including driving company vehicles for road tests and inspections.
Requirements:
  • 3-5 years' experience as a mechanic or diesel mechanic, with a strong background in commercial vehicle repair.
  • Accreditation from a reputable school or certification program, such as a diesel mechanic certification.
  • Complete all training requirements and pass pre-employment background checks.
  • Diesel mechanic experience is a plus, but not required.
