This is a skilled inspector position that involves reviewing and inspecting one and two-family dwellings, commercial, and industrial buildings for structural, mechanical, and plumbing and/or electrical compliance with State codes and related City Ordinances. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction and a keen eye for detail.
Key Responsibilities- Perform technical office review of building and construction plans and conduct on-site inspections for compliance with City ordinances and State and other building codes.
- Act as a resource to contractors, public, design professionals, and other parties on matters related to code requirements and construction techniques and practices.
- Investigate hazardous or illegal conditions and document inspections including violations.
- Enforce appropriate state specialty codes, ORS, OAR, City ordinances and other related regulations.
- Examine and evaluate building plans and specifications for safety and zoning code compliance and accepted engineering practices.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum five years' experience in residential and/or commercial construction.
- Oregon Electrical Inspector Certification (EI).
- Oregon Inspector Certification (OIC).
- Valid driver's license or secure within one month of hire date, and have an acceptable driving record.
Competitive salary range of $4,729 - $5,984 per month, plus additional pay for certain certifications.
