The Molecular Pathology Technologist role at Northwestern Medicine involves performing test procedures in the Diagnostic Molecular Biology laboratory accurately and timely to aid in patient diagnosis and treatment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensures accurate and timely execution of pre-analytic workflow tasks, including order verification and specimen handling.
  • Verifies patient and non-patient information to ensure data integrity.
  • Resolves unresolved orders and troubleshoots issues as needed to maintain laboratory efficiency.
  • Collects, processes, and labels specimens according to established protocols.
  • Conducts analytical testing and maintains the integrity of test systems.
  • Prioritizes testing based on defined criteria to optimize laboratory productivity.
  • Reviews and interprets test results accurately to ensure high-quality patient care.
  • Troubleshoots test system performance issues to minimize downtime.
  • Stores specimens properly and reports results in a timely manner to facilitate patient care.
  • Amends reports and responds to inquiries efficiently to maintain patient satisfaction.
  • Ensures quality and safety of laboratory operations to meet regulatory standards.
  • Provides exceptional service and maintains patient confidentiality in accordance with organizational policies.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology/Clinical Laboratory Science or a relevant field.
  • Preferred: CLSp(MB) or MP(ASCP) certification.
