Community Development Opportunities

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our Community Development team as a Land Development Intern. As an intern, you will have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects, including urban design and planning, roadways, park and recreation design, multi-use trail and pathway design, traffic engineering, landscape architecture, assessment and rehabilitation, infrastructure design, water and wastewater conveyance, and storm water management.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Use technical and communication abilities to complete the civil component of a wide variety of projects in a dynamic design team setting.
  • Inspect construction sites for compliance with project documents and engineering principles.
  • Assist with preparation of plans and specifications, reports, and other project deliverables.
  • Attend meetings on an as needed basis.
  • Complete detailed reports as required.
  • Procure permits and other approvals from various agencies.
  • Communicate effectively with construction and engineering staff, clients, and other project stakeholders.
  • Assist with CAD drafting and design, and preparation of construction documents.

Qualifications

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Requires understanding of basic AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Strong interest in community development engineering disciplines
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and take direction.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Must have a vehicle, good driving record, and valid driver's license.
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screen.

Education and Experience

  • In progress toward earning a bachelor's degree (minimum) in civil engineering or environmental engineering.
  • Specific coursework or exposure to one or more of the following is desired: planning, design, construction, architecture, infrastructure, hydrology, environmental, surveying and construction management.
