CAMBA is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Client Advocate to join our team at the Magnolia House Women's Shelter. As a Client Advocate, you will play a vital role in supporting the well-being and empowerment of our clients, who are predominantly single women with mental health challenges and substance abuse issues.
Key Responsibilities- Client Liaison: Establish and maintain relationships with external organizations to secure essential services for our clients, including housing, education, healthcare, and social services.
- Goal-Oriented Support: Assist clients in achieving their objectives by identifying and connecting them with community resources, and referring them to relevant services within and outside CAMBA.
- Social Support Events: Plan, coordinate, and facilitate social and peer support events to promote wellness and recovery among our clients.
- Skills Development: Help clients improve their mental and physical health, daily living skills, and resistance to substance abuse, while promoting self-advocacy and empowerment.
- Relapse Prevention: Assist clients in recognizing warning signs of relapse and developing individual coping strategies to maintain their recovery.
- Collaboration and Advocacy: Work with case managers to break down barriers to client goals and support clients in advocating for themselves, particularly in the treatment and recovery process.
- Marketing and Outreach: Prepare marketing materials to promote the program and its services.
- Client Escort and Support: Escort clients to appointments and provide support in completing applications for benefits and entitlements.
- Progress Monitoring: Regularly contact clients to ensure adherence to program requirements and document progress through detailed notes.
- Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent, and two years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Applicable Experience: Prior experience working with homeless, mental health, or substance abuse populations is highly desirable.
- Certifications: May be required to obtain First Aid/CPR certification and/or certification in overdose prevention.
- Language Skills: Bi-lingual skills are preferred.
