ROLE: School Social Worker – Full-Time Equivalent
LOCATION: East Lansing Public Schools

General Summary
The School Social Worker plays a crucial role in enhancing the educational experience by providing essential support services to students, families, and educational staff. This position involves delivering individualized, group, and community-based social work interventions.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver individual and group support to students.
- Facilitate and promote district-wide behavioral initiatives.
- Assist students in developing social skills and fostering positive peer relationships.
- Collaborate effectively with educational staff.
- Participate in the district's Crisis Intervention Team and Mental Health Advisory Committee.
- Support the implementation of social-emotional identification and referral processes for elementary students.
- Conduct social work evaluations for students with suspected disabilities or those receiving special education services.
- Provide consultation to educators regarding students facing behavioral or adjustment challenges.
- Attend meetings related to the Multidisciplinary Evaluation Team and Individualized Education Programs.
- Oversee the execution of 504 plans.
Qualifications and Skills Required
- Master's degree in Social Work from an accredited program.
- State licensure as a Master of Social Work (MSW).
- Proficient in report writing, evaluation, and interviewing techniques.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong organizational skills to meet deadlines for reports and documentation.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development.
