Lead Rigging Supervisor

The Lead Rigging Supervisor will oversee the coordination of the lifting and relocation of substantial machinery and materials. This role entails the thorough inspection of all relevant rigging equipment. The supervisor will strategize lifts by considering the load's weight, the lifting capacity of machinery, and other essential data necessary for the safe execution of heavy load movements. Responsibilities include securing loads with slings, chains, cables, hooks, shackles, and other pertinent apparatus. The supervisor will also provide clear signals to the operator during lifts, ensuring precise execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the safety observer during equipment lifts.
- Conduct inspections of all rigging apparatus.
- Plan or assist in the planning of lifting operations.
- Secure loads using slings, chains, shackles, hooks, cables, and other rigging tools.
- Utilize ropes for guiding loads during lifting and positioning.
- Direct equipment operators during lifts with clear placement instructions.
- Guide loads throughout the lifting and positioning process.
- Ascend structures to assist in load guidance and positioning.
- Help in stabilizing loads before detaching them from equipment.
- Detach loads and clear rigging equipment post-lift.
- Manage the placement and removal of outrigger pads from cranes and heavy machinery.
Essential Qualifications
- Minimum of 4 years' experience as a Journeyman Rigger or Crane Operator, with at least 2 years in supervisory roles.
- Possess all necessary Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities for the position.
- Ability to successfully pass motor vehicle authorization.
- Meet all physical demands of the role.
- Capability to work at heights exceeding 300 feet.
- Reliable transportation is required.
- In-depth knowledge of rigging equipment and their load capacities.
- Familiarity with essential tools and their correct usage.
- Team-oriented with effective communication skills for collaboration with colleagues and stakeholders.
- Basic understanding of construction processes in heavy industrial settings.
- Proficient in problem-solving and critical thinking to identify and resolve issues, including safety hazards.
- Knowledge of proper hand signals for communicating with equipment operators.
- Understanding of lift planning, including equipment selection and load capacities.
- Possession of an NCCER or NCCCO certification for Rigging or the ability to obtain one shortly after hiring.
- Basic knowledge of transportation logistics for moving equipment and loads.
- Arithmetic skills necessary for lift planning.
- Willingness to adhere to all company policies and safety protocols.
- Ability to work at heights.
- Reliable transportation is necessary.
- Current employee of Zachry or Zachry ROF'ed.
- Previous experience with Zachry Industrial, Inc.
- Experience as an Industrial Ironworker.
- NCCCO Rigger Certification.
- Position requires significant standing, walking, bending, squatting, sitting, and lifting.
- Effective communication through speaking and listening is essential.
- Use of arms and hands for signaling, grasping, holding, turning, pushing, and pulling objects, materials, controls, and tools.
- May need to lift, carry, and move items weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Work at heights, climb ladders and stairs, and occasionally work from platforms/scaffolding while adhering to fall protection standards.
- Ability to work in various weather conditions (heat, rain, cold, wind) while wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Mandatory use of PPE, including hard hats, safety glasses, ear protection, masks, high-visibility vests, gloves, and steel-toed boots.
