Job Summary:

Eversource is seeking a highly skilled Lead Engineer, Transmission System Planning to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for providing focused subject matter expertise and oversight of power system studies and system solutions development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate team assignments associated with the modeling and analysis of Eversource's electric transmission system.
  • Develop and improve standard procedures or processes, methodologies, and documentation supporting studies and system improvements.
  • Represent the Company on regional and national transmission committees regarding transmission planning matters.
  • Lead the development and maintenance of the system power flow model.
  • Collect and review forecast loads, electric system parameters, and modeling for steady-state, stability, short-circuit, and EMT analyses.
  • Lead the strategic needs assessment and analysis of proposed solutions associated with Eversource's service territory.
  • Interface with various ISO-NE staff, DER, and Distribution System Planning to determine system impacts and proposed solutions.
  • Develop design solutions and alternatives to mitigate identified assessment criteria violations.
  • Present study results to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Lead the Annual System assessments and develop potential alternatives to reliability objectives.
  • Contribute to the development of the Transmission capital budget.
  • Lead the analysis of system interconnections.
  • Serve as a company expert witness advocating the Company's position at various regulatory and/or siting proceedings.
  • Conduct performance evaluations for System Planning staff.

Requirements:

  • 8+ years of experience in Power Systems Engineering and Analysis or as a Power System Planner in an electric utility.
  • Effective communication and writing skills.
  • Very familiar with NERC, NPCC, and ISO-NE transmission planning reliability standards.
  • Experience with power system transmission analysis tools.
  • Ability to interface effectively with clients, peers, and management.
  • Strong understanding of electrical engineering concepts.
  • Thorough understanding of engineering economics.

Working Conditions:

Must be available to work emergency restoration assignments and travel between MA/CT/NH as necessary.
