The Cybersecurity Systems Protection Specialist is tasked with ensuring that the operational security posture is effectively upheld for an information system. This role necessitates close collaboration with the Information System Security Manager (ISSM) and Information Security Officer (ISO).

The individual will possess the in-depth knowledge and expertise essential for managing the security components of an information system and is often responsible for the daily security operations of the system.

Responsibilities will encompass physical and environmental safeguards, personnel security, incident response, and security training and awareness initiatives.

Coordination with the ISSM and ISO is crucial in monitoring the information system(s) and its operational environment, which includes developing and revising authorization documentation and implementing configuration management across authorization boundaries.

This will involve evaluating the security implications of changes and providing recommendations to the ISSM.

The primary focus will be on working within Special Access Programs (SAPs) in support of Department of Defense (DoD) agencies.

The role will provide ongoing support for Collateral, Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI), and Special Access Program (SAP) activities.

Key Responsibilities:
Assist the ISSM in fulfilling their responsibilities. Prepare, review, and update authorization packages. Ensure established procedures are in place for clearing, sanitizing, and disposing of various types of hardware and media. Notify the ISSM of any changes that may impact the authorization status of the information system(s). Conduct regular reviews of information systems to ensure compliance with the security authorization package.

Coordinate any modifications to hardware, software, or firmware of a system with the ISSM and Authorizing Official (AO)/Designated Authorizing Official (DAO) prior to the change.

Monitor system recovery processes to guarantee that security features and procedures are properly restored and functioning as intended. Ensure all information security-related documentation is current and accessible to authorized personnel.

Ensure audit records are collected, reviewed, and documented (including any anomalies). Attend required technical and security training relevant to assigned duties.

Execute the cybersecurity portion of self-inspections, including security coordination and review of all system assessment plans. Identify cybersecurity vulnerabilities and assist in implementing countermeasures. Prepare reports on the status of security safeguards applied to computer systems. Perform ISSO duties in support of internal and external clients. Conduct continuous monitoring activities for authorization boundaries under your purview. Assist Department of Defense, National Agency, and Contractor organizations with the development of assessment and authorization (A&A) efforts.

Experience:
5 years of related experience, particularly in developing Risk Management Framework (RMF) packages or bodies of evidence. 2 years of SAP experience required. Previous roles such as System Administrator, Network Administrator, or ISSO are preferred.

Education:
Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience (4 years)

Certifications:

IAT Level II (Security CE, CCNA Security, etc.) or IAM Level II Clearance Required to Start: TS/SCI required.

Must be able to attain – TS/SCI with CI Polygraph.
