We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Agency Instructor I to join our team at the Texas Engineering Extension Service. As a key member of our training team, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality training programs to our clients, utilizing your expertise in heavy equipment operations and adult education.
Key Responsibilities- Classroom Instruction
- Instruct courses and provide technical assistance as needed.
- Prepare training materials, training aids, and equipment prior to course delivery.
- Ensure classrooms are ready for participants and ensure concerned parties are notified of schedules, locations, and times.
- Verify that participants have achieved terminal objectives of the course.
- Secure training materials, training aids, and classrooms upon completion of the course.
- Program Support
- Complete class documentation in an accurate and timely manner in accordance with Division Guidance, Agency, and Contractual requirements.
- Assist the Training Manager/Coordinator with customer interactions.
- Assist in marketing Division programs and events to potential customers and students.
- Ensure requests for travel and post-travel claim documentation are completed in an accurate and timely manner in accordance with Division and Agency guidance.
- Additional Responsibilities
- Participate in professional development opportunities.
- Contribute to Agency Initiatives (CoPs, etc.).
- Maintain and safeguard assigned divisional equipment and property.
- Maintain a clean and neat appearance.
- Maintain an orderly and clean workspace.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Education
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Experience
- Four years of heavy equipment operations experience, including experience on two or more of the following: Aerial Work Platforms, Backhoe, Bulldozer, Dump Truck, Excavator, Forklift, Front End Loader, Maintainer, and Skid Steer.
- One year of adult education and/or training experience.
- Licenses/Certifications
- Valid motor vehicle operator's license or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment.
- Preferred Qualifications
- Associates degree from an accredited college or university.
- Fluency in both English and Spanish, with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ten years of heavy equipment experience in 3 or more of the following: Asphalt Distributor, Backhoe, Dozer, Maintainer, Excavator, Front End Loader, Skid Steer, Forklift, Aerial Work Platforms, Crane, Roller, Dump Truck.
- Knowledge of and/or certifications in Highway Safety and Traffic control.
- Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and/or move heavy objects and/or wear personal protective gear during instruction.
- Ability to work in adverse weather conditions during instruction.
- Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work with sensitive information and maintain confidentiality.
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Ability to actively demonstrate the TEEX Values - Safety, Teamwork, Adaptability, Respect, and Stewardship.
- Demonstrated positive attitude and work ethic.
- Ability to exhibit punctuality by arriving at work and scheduled events on time.
