Job Summary

The Commonwealth of Virginia is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Family Services Specialist III to join our team. This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires a strong understanding of social work principles and practices, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor, coordinate, and administer specific assigned programs to ensure effective delivery of services to clients.
  • Coordinate services within specific areas of responsibility, including adult and child protective services, foster care, and adoptions.
  • Develop and present training programs and other presentations to educate clients and stakeholders on social services and related topics.
  • Investigate high-risk cases, interview clients, and assess their needs to determine the most effective course of action.
  • Testify in court proceedings and provide expert testimony on social services-related matters.
  • Develop and implement service plans to ensure the delivery of appropriate services to clients.
  • Manage program waiting lists, track expenditures, and prepare budget estimates to ensure efficient use of resources.
  • Provide case management services, including counseling, referral, and follow-up to ensure client satisfaction and successful outcomes.
  • Represent the agency at various functions, including civic and business associations, to promote social services and related initiatives.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a Human Services field or a related field with a minimum of two years of experience in a Human Services area.
  • Considerable experience in assigned program area and completion of required training programs or equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Possession of a BSW or MSW degree and a Commonwealth of Virginia Social Worker license are desirable.
Working Conditions

The Family Services Specialist III will work in a fast-paced environment, interacting with clients, stakeholders, and colleagues to achieve program goals and objectives. The position requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Language

The primary language used in this role is English, with occasional use of Spanish or other languages as needed.
