Key Responsibilities
  • Plant Operations: Direct the daily operations of the water and wastewater treatment plants, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations.
  • Staff Supervision: Supervise a team of plant operators and maintenance personnel, providing guidance and training to ensure efficient and effective plant operations.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Oversee the maintenance and repair of plant equipment, including pumps, motors, and other machinery.
  • Quality Control: Monitor and control the quality of treated water and wastewater, ensuring it meets or exceeds regulatory standards.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure the plant's operations comply with all relevant federal and state regulations, including OSHA, EPA, and NPDES permits.
  • Training and Development: Develop and implement training programs to enhance the skills and knowledge of plant operators and maintenance personnel.
  • Budgeting and Reporting: Prepare and manage the plant's budget, as well as prepare reports and presentations for management and regulatory agencies.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemistry, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in water and wastewater treatment plant operations, including supervisory experience.
  • Skills: Strong leadership and technical skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with plant operators, maintenance personnel, and regulatory agencies.
Working Conditions

The Water/Wastewater Superintendent will work in a fast-paced environment, with frequent exposure to chemicals, heavy machinery, and other hazards. The position requires strong physical and mental stamina, as well as the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
